Catfish Fillet Recipe
Catfish fillets are some of the most delicious dinner choices. There is nothing that can compare to biting into a mouth-watering fillet that is cooked and seasoned to perfection. This zesty recipe with a unique blend of herbs and spices combined with the perfect drizzle of citrus flavor will keep you, and your dinner guests, coming back to the kitchen for more.
Ingredients
- 4 catfish fillets
- 1 teaspoon lemon pepper
- Salt
- Freshly ground pepper
- Juice from one freshly squeezed lemon
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 teaspoons melted butter
- Non-stick cooking spray
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit.
- Line baking dish with aluminum foil. Spray foil with non-stick cooking spray.
- Combine all dry ingredients in one bowl. Set aside.
- Melt butter in a separate bowl. Set aside.
- Clean fish fillets with warm water and pat dry. Lay all four fish fillets in a baking dish.
- Carefully brush with melted butter. A pastry brush is easy to use for this step. Those without a brush can dip the fish fillets into the bowl or use a spoon to spread the melted butter onto the fish fillet. It’s important to remember that a small amount of butter should be used; you will not use the entire bowl.
- After spreading butter on one side of the fish fillet, sprinkle them evenly with half of the seasoning mixture. It might be helpful to split the dry mixture into two bowls to ensure that you do not use more than half of it.
- After this, flip over the fish fillets and repeat with the other side.
- Finally, drizzle fresh lemon juice over the fish fillets for a touch of citrus flavor.
Cook until fish are done and will flake easily with a fork. Oven times may vary depending on the oven, but this usually takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
Tips
This recipe is already delicious, but there are a few things you can do to make it your own, too!
1. Breading
Instead of drizzling mouth-watering melted butter over the fish, add a few cups of breadcrumbs to the seasoning mixture and use it for bread. This will give the fish an even coating of golden crust that tastes delicious.
- To do this, omit the butter. Whisk three large eggs in a bowl and set aside.
- Prepare the dry mixture as instructed above and include 2 cups of breadcrumbs.
- Then, dip the fish fillets into the eggs one at a time.
- After a catfish fillet is thoroughly coated in the egg mixture, put it into the bowl with the dry mixture.
- Toss evenly to coat the entire fillet in the mixture.
- Then, place it in the pan. Repeat this will all four catfish fillets.
- When you are done, sprinkle them with lemon juice and bake them to perfection.
2. Sides
This delicious dish can be served with almost any side! Enjoy a side of fresh salad, mashed potatoes or something as simple and family-friendly as French fries. Regardless of what side you choose, it will coordinate perfectly with these catfish fillets.
