The anchor is used to keep your boat steady and in position when you are baiting or trolling catfish. The anchor is cast into the water, and it settles in the depths, the weight of your anchor makes it possible to hold your boat in position while fishing securely.
Anglers may find it difficult to retrieve the anchor after landing enough catfish. When it is time to navigate the boat back to the shore, the anchor must be retrieved. It is easier when there are many men available to easily lift the heavy anchor out or the water, or you can use the anchor retrieval system.
Why do we need the anchor retrieval system?
One of the top reasons you need a reliable anchor retrieval system when searching for catfish is the ease at which the anchor can be retrieved. Catfish migration patterns and movements in a certain region can be quite unpredictable. If you have set up your line in an area for a few hours without experiencing any bites, it is possible there are no catfish in that place.
Your next action will be to move to another location quickly, in the hope of finding catfish. This means anglers may need to move from one location to another, many times in one day. Now imagine hauling that heavy anchor out of the water all by yourself every time you need to relocate in search of catfish. It will cause a strain on your back except you have people to help.
How it works
The parts of a standard anchor retrieval system are as follows; a strong rope, an inflatable buoy, the buoy ring, and clips to secure the ring and buoy to the rope.
The inflatable buoy is attached to one end of the rope and the ring to the other end. The buoy is responsible for lifting the anchor from the river depths when you need to navigate your fishing boat to another location. The anchor line is passed through the ring and attached to the boat. When you set the boat in motion, the anchor line pulled through the ring, this causes the buoy to lift the anchor away from the river bed up to the water surface, so the boat and move freely to another location.
The anchor retrieval system was initially used by only anglers who had commercial interests. They had much bigger fishing boats that required the use of the anchors. Now, smaller fishing boats may need to use anchors because of the strong currents and the location of catfish which can be farther down the deeper ends of the river. With anchors, you can stay in a location safely while catfishing.
When you reach a new location, all you need to do is stop the boat and drop the anchor to the river bed securing the fishing boat. When necessary, you can repeat the process to use the anchor retrieval system.
The anchor retrieval system has made the catfishing experience much easier for anglers. A point to note when using this system, you have to ensure the anchor rope does not become entangled in the engine of your fishing boat.
